i wanted to be wrong

Sometimes the hardest heartbreak isn't discovering something you never expected. It's knowing what will probably happen and allowing yourself to hope for something different anyway.

“i wanted to be wrong” is a deeply personal song about caring for someone struggling with addiction, finding hope in a moment of genuine connection, and imagining a future that ultimately never came to be.

When someone told me he could truly rest beside me, I believed him. I still do. But in that moment of comfort, I saw the possibility of something more—a life we might share, and perhaps a reason for him to begin choosing a different path.

I knew his recovery wasn't something I could choose for him. I just hoped that what we might become would be enough to inspire him to choose it for himself.

This song is about that fragile hope, the helplessness of loving someone whose struggle you cannot resolve, and the quiet heartbreak of realizing that something beautiful and genuine doesn't always become the future you imagined.

You never promised me forever.
You only said that you could rest.
And I made a thousand tomorrows
Out of something you meant then.

I knew how he would choose. I just wanted to be wrong.
