"another version of me" explores a question that doesn't have an easy answer:

For much of my life, survival meant adapting. Becoming who I needed to be. Staying quiet. Staying small. Staying acceptable. Somewhere along the way, I began wondering about the version of me that never had to do that—the one who didn't have to hide, perform, or constantly anticipate what the world needed from him.

This song isn't about regret as much as it is curiosity. It holds two truths at once: gratitude for the person who survived, and grief for the person who never had the chance to exist.
